A Dance and A Horrible Hair-Don't

Why are we dancing, you ask?!

Because we finally have TV and internet in the new place!

So, while watching TV I noticed what might be the most unprepared man on TV that really needs a haircut:
This is Joe Levy. Editor-in-Chief of Maxim. This man SERIOUSLY needs one of those stylists to help him.

The Move From Hell - List Style

Well.. we moved on Sunday. For your enjoyment I've compiled a list explaining why this move was the work of the devil.
1. Moving during a blizzard might be the worst kind of move there is.
2. Trying to fit a couch/dresser/any furniture through stairways that are too narrow result in dents/scrapes/holes in the walls.
3. Having a truck that is too small to fit all of your boxes results in half-assed unpacking.
4. Leaving your shelves for bookcases and desks h the boxes that didn't fit results in more half-assed unpacking since you have nowhere to put things.
5. Being completely unaware if the power-cord for your TV made it to the new apartment or not results in an awkward meeting with the Fios people when they come tomorrow.
6. Not bringing any of your kitchen boxes during the first trip results in eating out of tupperware.
7. Not bringing any food right before a blizzard results into a trip to the grocery store where random food purchases are made. (ie: tater tots, fish sticks, wheat thins, and pickles)
8. Moving through snow = dirty floors and carpeting.
9. Not having all boxes = all cleaning supplies are at the old apartment, so floors will stay dirty.
10. Discovering that your downstairs neighbors smoke in their apartment results in extra money spent on plug-in air fresheners.
11. Having a box spring that won't fit into your apartment = an awkward encounter with neighbors as the box spring flies around in tornado-style winds.

Thank You Michaels For Your Flawed System :)

*Drumroll*
YESSSSSSSSS I scored a Scotch ATG gun! I'm so excited because I've been watching countless videos on YouTube of people who use it. How did I find myself being able to afford this $40 product, you ask? Read on...
I have been wanting an ATG for awhile now... really bad, lol. I went to Michaels today assuming that the $19.99 deal was over (they were having a sale), but when I walked by the ATG's there were 3 displays that said they were on sale for $19.99 with no end-date. I went to the registers with that and a $3 ink pad. (I intended to just use my 50% off coupon on the ink pad). I was paying and the ATG came up as $39.99. I explained about the displays and the cashier gave it to me for $19.99. Awesome. When I was paying, I was really impressed by the price that I paid and thought nothing of it. When I was in my car I looked at the receipt. I got $10 off from the coupon! Apparently since she had to override the price to give me the ATG for $19.99, the register allowed the 50% to be used on it since it didn't come up as a sale item in the system!

Who got it for $10?! This girl. Ok, fine. I'll go back to packing.

The Years Go On...and We're Still Fighting It

Oh Ben Folds... you complete me.

My latest TV addiction has been The Sing Off - which obviously comes from my overdeveloped obsession for Ben Folds. It's just nice to see a competition that is actually based around talent, rather than shitty talent.

Note to self- I should be packing instead of writing this...

Okay. Yes. I should be packing. Unfortunately the hubby forgot to bring in the boxes he had in his car before leaving for work. Leaving me box-less once again :| I did fill the random tote bags that we had, though. I'm contemplating taking a trip tonight when he gets home to bring some more things to the apartment... at least this way we can clear more room in the old place... and I can feel like I'm actually making a dent with the packing. We have tons of baby stuff. No. I'm not pregnant. Long story short - my sister gave us a ton of baby stuff when she moved to her new place. It's currently sitting in a Jenga-style pile in our spare room/office/my craft area room. It's actually taking up a lot of room. We already have a bedroom set aside in our new place for when we do have a baby, so we have a place for all of this crap to go. SOOOOO if we can bring that stuff over there now, I'll have more room for boxes and I can get crap out of where it already is. I feel so hopeless with all of this packing. The countdown formula is:
9 Days (216 hours) to pack minus 1 day and night of being away in Hershey, PA (~30 hours) for a pre-planned trip minus Christmas Eve/Christmas Day festivities (~10 hours) minus 3 1/2 work days (26 hours) = 150 hours... not including oh, I don't know, sleep? Oh... and not to mention the hubby is either working or coaching for about 45 hours of that time...
Fantastic. I feel so optimistic.

Amount of time I wasted writing all of this... 0.25 hours. DAMNIT.

I'm a Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Blogger

Hellooooooooooo Cyberspace! I apologize for the intense lack of updates to the blog. I have been swamped with trying to get ready for our move. This includes packing like a beast, and running out of boxes, staring at the things I still need to pack, and wanting to pull my hair out. But I digress. (Insert crying picture of me here.) Things have been a little hectic at work, but it is all good because I love what I do! However, I am counting down the days until Christmas Break so that I can breathe a bit… oh and move. (Did I mention that it’s currently 5.5 more days of work until Christmas Break?)
While the husband and I are going crazy trying to prepare for our Day-After-Christmas-Move, we’re trying to slowly bring things to the new place. This way it won’t be as crazy when we need to have the “big” move.
Tomorrow marks our SEVEN YEAR “dating” anniversary. It has definitely been a wild ride. My algebra students are using percentages. I have been with my husband for 29% of my life. Holy balls.
....and back to reality....

Things are Feeling Real

The hubby and I are about to enter an intense window of “Crunch Time”. While we have until the end of January to fully move, we’ve both decided that we’d like our official moving date to be the day after Christmas. This way I’ll have a week off of work to settle into our home, and make it “ours”. This leaves around 12 days to get all of our packing done. Cleaning of our current apartment will definitely be put on hold until we’ve moved (since we’ll have that extra month to clean it). Luckily, since we’ll have the keys 2 weeks before our official move, we’ve already planned on moving smaller items to the apartment. It’s just a matter of figuring out which things we’ll move, packing those things, and when we’ll move them.  Of course, there’s also the matter of figuring out what we’ll be selling before our move. I’ve already begun going through our apartment looking for things to sell. I’ve become slightly addicted, actually. Unfortunately, no one has bought anything from me yet except my Wii. BOO! Listing things and having zero bites is extremely frustrating.
So onto the things that I need to get done: I need to start packing or at least “semi” packing things into boxes and bags so that we can move them with our cars and know where they belong before our furniture needs to be brought in. This mostly consists of our clothes, kitchen stuff, personal belongings and electronics. I’m hoping to only have our furniture on the moving truck. We also may sell or store our current bedroom set and get something simpler. It may be unnecessarily too large for our new bedroom since it’s a renovated attic that has angled walls. Which is totally fine with me since we won’t be spending too much time in the bedroom – we’re living room people.
One thing I’m extremely excited for? To finally have a “baby” room to put all of the hand-me-down baby things in… No, we’re not pregnant, but we have enough stuff in case we do get pregnant! This means our den area can be my craft room J This is very exciting for me. Hopefully I’m able to get my HD video cam and I can make a big tour with how we’re decorating/organizing everything.
Ok. That’s enough of an update for now. I really need to get to packing!

Things are looking up...

The hubby and I gave an offer for an apartment we've had our eye on. They're currently drawing up the lease, and hopefully we'll be able to get the keys this weekend! (We still have our current place until the end of January, so moving isn't too rushed.) However, we're hoping to be moved before the end of January. This way we'll have time to clean our old apartment and paint it back to white. Luckily, the new place doesn't need any painting done. Since we'll have the keys early, we're hoping to slowly bring our things over in our cars and just have our big furniture to move at the end. (Thus eliminating the need for an insane amount of moving in one day!)

I'm actually hoping we can get the place in a good enough condition to have people over for New Year's Eve... especially since you can see the NYC skyline from the new backyard! I love it.
*Fingers are crossed* that it all works out :) If I'm lucky, maybe I'll have my current camcorder sold in time for me to make a tour video of the new place once we get the keys :)

WOO! Hanukkah is one big CHECK

I was finally able to finish all of my Hanukkah crafts, and gave them out yesterday at my family's get-together. It all went well! The kids loved their new necklaces. I can't wait to make more. My sister makes jewelry and she gave me some tips on different hooks I could do with wire - which I intend on trying out when I can afford the tools/supplies for it. Or I can just have some more craft days with her and use her tools.

Hanukkah came, and there's still no HD camcorder. Boo, I know :( but we're trying to save so that we can move within the next month. *Fingers crossed* that the entire moving situation works out! However, I am selling some items that I've had around the apartment. If you're interested, take a look:

Cricut Create Machine
Samsung MiniDV Camcorder
Kensington ComboSaver Laptop Lock

All proceeds go to my Hanukkah present <3
